Successful project managers recognize that using effective communication skills is vital to ensuring that the project team performs effectively. This discussion looks at effective meeting management which is essential to the project manager’s toolbox and how this skill help builds highly functioning teams.

Objectives / Agenda:

1) Discussion on the tenets of quality meetings

2) To have participants engage in a roundtable discussion about tips and best practices for leading effective meetings

The roundtable format for this session will be as follows:

• Topic introduction – 10 minutes
• Full-group brainstorming – 15 minutes
• Breakout into small groups (recommended groups of 4 people) – 15 minutes
• Return to full group to share breakout group feedback and wrap up – 20 minutes

Facilitator: Ken Smith

Ken Smith is a distinguished graduate from the United States Military Academy class of 1996, where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He left the Army as a Major after 12 years as an Infantry officer, including two combat tours. Ken earned the Bronze Star Medal during his service in Iraq and is a Ranger School graduate. He holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.

Ken lives his passion transforming good managers into inspirational leaders. He merges theoretical knowledge with real world experiences to deliver a unique leadership development experience. He is especially skilled at developing introverts and technical individuals after spending 9 years leading engineering teams in the oil and gas industry.
